2016 Puerto Vallarta - Day 2 - Sunday....the Sabbath

November 13, 2016

What a wonderful night's sleep!  It felt so good to get to bed at a decent hour and then sleep in...at least until 7:00 AM!  The king size bed we are in is nice...very comfortable.  All really good.  We debated last night, if we would get up and figure out how to get to church by 9 AM.  We would need to take a taxi.  Anyway, upon waking up and reading our electronic devices, we looked at each other and asked...are we going?  It was about 8:15 AM.  We both said...Yes!  Let's do it.  So we scrambled to get ready.  At about 8:45 AM, we left and went downstairs and grabbed a cab.  We told the taxi driver the address...and he thought it was really close.  But he was wrong.  After using our devices, we kind of showed him the general area where the chapel was supposed to be.  We even started tracking to it.  So off we went.  Well, we missed a turn or two but still the GPS re-routed us every time.  Finally when it said we were there....there was no chapel.  So the driver kept driving around.  We then used old school...got on the street and then just looked at house addresses and followed them.  We eventually came to the chapel at about 9:15 AM...a bit late.  That was the good news.  The bad news was that it was Stake Conference!  We looked at the sign on the gate and it gave the address and time.  It was going to start at 10 AM....but a long ways from where we were at.  Knowing that they would not serve the sacrament and the fact that we would not understand much...Denise nothing...we told the driver to just take us back to our condo.  Quite the adventure.  The driver...such a nice guy.  We just laughed at our adventure.

After returned, we laid around a bit.  I blogged and Denise read.  Eventually we decided that we would head down to Mismaloya...a small beach area where we will be scuba diving on Tuesday at Los Arcos.  We wanted to check it out to see if it would be ok if Denise hung out there while we scuba dived.  It looks like it would be fine.  But, we are hoping that she can come on the boat with us.  I think we might be able to do that.  But we shall see.  The drive to Mismaloya on the bus was fine...beautiful coast line drive.  The buses here are generally old and beat up.  But for 8 pesos...less than 50 cents...can't beat it.  It was a 25 minute ride to Mismaloya.  We looked at the condos on the hill that I almost rented there.  Denise is so glad we are where we are.  It is flat with lots of commercial stuff around.  In Mislamoya, we would have been walking hills...lots of them!

At about 2 PM, we needed to eat something.  So we headed down to the Malecon (beach Boardwalk) and ate at a restaurant recommended by our security guard.  Fish tacos and Shrimp Nachos.  All pretty good.  Lots of families on La Playa de los Muertos.  Very nice day that had clouds keeping the sun at bay.  Not too hot.  But it is humid.

One thing that we are finding here are lots of bakeries.  Oh my goodness.  It is our weakness.  So many unhealthy things to eat.  But oh so yummy!!!

After lunch, we returned to our condo and just chilled out.  I don't do that well.  But this time I did.  I even fell asleep on a couch while watching some movie on Netflix that we had already seen.  After a few hours, we went up to the 7th floor to watch the sun set over the ocean.  Such a BEAUTIFUL view. Worth every penny.  While we were up there we met a young man who was with his husband...yes...this trendy spot seems to be attractive to those who play for the other team.  He was from New York.  We had a very nice conversation with him.  Soon others gathered up there to have dinner.  There is a very nice BBQ and large table up there.  Pretty cool place.  We'll be watching the sun go down from there every night...only in the pool!

Well, not a normal Sabbath.  But a good one.  Tomorrow...we zip line.  Should be fun.
