Today being the Sabbath day was a little different. No beaches or swimming. Just a nice relaxing day. We were up early to be out of the door by 8 AM to drive to the church where we were to attend services. Attending church in a ‘foreign’ land is always a wonderful experience and today was not exception. We heard testimonies of love, conversion and commitment to follow the Savior. It was really wonderful to be there with many members who were like us…visitors. After church, we went to an eatery named Kountry Kitchen for a brunch breakfast. We waited about an hour to get in. The food was great…quite large portions. The pancake that Ilene bought was huge. Funny story about that was she wanted something in the waffle section but she did not want a waffle…she wanted the pancake. The server said fine…that she could order a pancake and add all the toppings she wanted. She did not tell Ilene that each topping would be $4.50 per topping. Her pancake, very large pancake, cost over $23. We chuckled at this a lot.
After breakfast/lunch, we headed to see some waterfalls. The first was Opaeka Waterfall. The second was Waimea Waterfall. The latter was the most spectacular. But both were beautiful. The country side is all so green and lush. It’s pretty amazing here.
After going to the waterfalls, we decided to drive to the Ninini Lighthouse. We had to go 4 wheeling a bit to get there in our low riding Dodge Charger. But we made it. It was right on the edge of a beautiful bay of water. The water was crystal clear. I so wanted to jump in. We don’t know the history of the lighthouse but nonetheless we got lots of pictures and the scenery was gorgeous.
After the lighthouse, we needed our daily fix of Shaved Ice. We drove to a place called Skinny Mike’s that was nearby. The Shaved Ice was very yummy as usual. And very refreshing. The sun here is very warm and you get hot quickly if not in the shade. In the shade, with the breeze blowing, it feels awesome.
Our next stop was back at our condo. Kim and I watched the Denver Nuggets lose game 2 to the Miami Heat. Bummer. We both want Denver to win it all. We will see. Once that was over, we walked over to the food trucks here on the resort and Kim got some dinner. I was not hungry much and the girls had left overs. I had a small ham sandwich that we had made for lunch the day before.
After dinner, we decided to watch a movie. Denise and Ilene went over to the registration desk where they had DVD’s that you could borrow. They grabbed 3. But before they returned, I figured out that the cable company used here offers movies. So we decided to watch ‘Just Mercy’. It’s a good movie if you have not seen it. Once it concluded around 8:45 PM, it was time for bed…and off we went. We are such old people. Anyways…great day once again.

These are some pictures at the Ninini Point Lighthouse. It is a beautiful site on a fairly large bay. The water…crystal clear. Amazing.
